Jim,
You are correct about Nancy Beatrice being the fourth child. Three of their chldren, Julius Sumner, Nancy Beatrice and Willis Leone married siblings John, Calloway and Dora Dean of Cooke Co., TX, at the time of their marriages.

Following is an item included in the Clopton Family Book about Willis and Sarah Floyd. This was compiled by Doris Kolb Holmes, the granddaughter of Lucius Orritha Floyd. There is a Clopton Family web site that has all of her info included.

"In 1857 this young couple and their two small sons joined Willis Newell Floyd's parents and many other relatives and friends, left Georgia, and came to Texas. According to stories Sarah Susan told her grandchildren, there was a long procession of people, wagons, stock, and slaves (who were said to have walked the entire distance); rivers were forded by swimming the stock and floating the wagons between huge logs laboriously cut and portaged to the river's edge. Several days and repeated crossings were required to cross the Mississippi River. After a long trip lasting three months, the family settled in Upshur County, Texas near the present town of Gilmer, where their daughters were born, the third after her father's death in Arkansas.
The devastation, deprivation, tribulation, and grief brought by the war were courageously endured by this young widow and her five children."

Willis Newell Floyd was a member of the 19th Regiment, Texas Infantry, Company C. He is listed as killed Dec. 2, 1862 in Arkansas, I do not know where. This is all the info I have for Willis so far.
My ancestors went from Cooke Co. to Clay Co. to Lubbock Co. My mother is the only living grandchild of John & Nancy Dean.
I have not been to the cemetery you mention. Are John W and Oretha buried there? Was the Dolphin Ward Floyd that was killed at the Alamo a brother of John W?
I really appreciate your response and the information. If I can share anything else with you, let me know. Thanks again.
Patti
