We have a couple of matching DNA results from descendants of James Flowers of Gwinnett Co. GA (1807-1873). We assume that James' father was the Andrew Flowers, also in Gwinnett, who was born VA ca. 1787 and died in GA after 1850, but to be absolutely sure, DNA from his provable male Flowers descendants would help! Andrew married a second time to Elizabeth Sexton Jones in GA and I have some information on several of his sons by that marriage. I have a grandson John Luther Flowers who was born in Red River Parish LA 1876 and died in Sacramento CA 1953. No idea whether he had sons or not. I also have the following info on John Luther's brother William: From http://www.psi-sc.com/genealogy/sexton/html/d0000/g0000079.html#I752 William Harrison FLOWERS ABT 1874 - 16 Nov 1945 BIRTH: ABT 1874, Red River Parish, LA [842] DEATH: 16 Nov 1945, Rapidies Parish, LA [843] CENSUS: 1920, US Census Rapides Parish, LA Father: George Washington FLOWERS Mother: Lou ? Family 1 : Lottie Belle WHATLEY MARRIAGE: [5616] Curtis E. FLOWERS +Ennis Elmer FLOWERS Lula May FLOWERS Otto Dennis FLOWERS Thelma FLOWERS William H. FLOWERS , Jr. Dempsey P. FLOWERS Additionally, Andrew's son Francis Marion had four sons born in the 1870s and 1880s--Henry, Wilson, Frank, and Julius. They seem to have been in AL and AR after GA. Are there grandsons of these men out there somewhere? Please email me <KDale2640@msn.com> if you are or know a male Flowers from these lines. Maybe we can pool our resources to help pay for DNA. I'd also like to find a DNA volunteer from the Flowers lines out of Pendleton/Abbeville/Anderson SC. Several of them also went to GA and some to MS. Another stayed in Anderson SC. I think all these lines are related to Andrew--but I've run out of paper to research--need DNA! YDNA only works with males named Flowers--but surely there are some who may be related to the Gwinnett Flowers! Notify Administrator about this message?
