Well, it's certainly a mystery, but I keep thinking that we will find an answer. There were very few Flowers families in MD at the time, especially on the Eastern Shore. The two major ones--Thomas Flowers and John Flowers were, we believe, though we cannot prove, related. We cannot place Ignatius in either of these families. My feeling is that his family was Roman Catholic--hence the name Ignatius. As I mentioned there was an early Catholic Flower family in St. Mary's. Some members of their family lived on the Eastern Shore at times. The Goldsborough relationship is problematic, as the Goldsboroughs have been well-documented. The histories of this family which I have consulted do not show any member marrying a Flowers. However, as I noted there is a possible connection between the Goldsberrys and the Flower family of St. Mary's.Thanks for that bit of info, though.
