Harrell Flowers
Posted by: Jarrod Howard (ID *****3668) Date: February 05, 2005 at 17:59:15

I was wondering if anyone has any information about the original Harrell Flowers (b. ~1792; Abner Flowers's brother instead of his son), whom he married, or his children. Harrell went south to Georgia in 1816 with Abner Flowers and Stephen and Sally Reaves. He seems to have had a family there in Jones County, and then returned to Wayne County, NC in the 1840s after his father William died to challenge the estate settlement. After coming back, I believe he married Elizabeth (Betsy) J., who was about thirty-five years younger than he, and had at least four more children, including my ggg-grandmother, Mary S. Flowers, who married Cornelius Overman. I've seen it mentioned that he died in Alabama, but find that hard to believe. I've also seen his wife listed as Elizabeth Jane Britt, but I don't know the source of that information. Flowers_Chronicles is fairly silent about this Harrell unfortunately.

Thanks for any help,

J. Howard
