Hugh Grady Flowers, Vicksburgh, Ms.
Greetings Flowers! This is a tough one.I need your help!To begin with, I am an African American descendent of the Flowers clan. Here is my lineage:
Carlton Flowers (me)
Hugh Flowers, Jr.
Hugh Flowers, Sr.
William Flowers
Henry Flowers
Hugh Grady Flowers(Plantation Owner, said to be an Irishman)Here's my challenge:The courthouse in Vicksburgh, Mississippi burned down in the early '70, with our family history. Therefore, I am searching for any info on the above members.Ledgend has it that Hugh Grady Flowers was a prominant landowner in Vicksburgh, also slave owner, and that he held an officer ranking in the Confederate army.He sired a male child from one of his slave women, who supposedly is Henry. As the story goes, Henry was his father's assistant in the war, but was injured and returned home only to die, but not before becomming the father of William Flowers. My grandfather, Hugh Sr., decided to tell us this only 2 years before he passed away in 1986.Any Mississippi Flowers's out there that can help provide factual information to this story? Please feel free to e-mail me directly at [email protected] if you do!
