Caroline: You've made a significant discovery of the Flournoy line I'd suspect. Do you have notes on specifically which Flournoy's are buried at the Rocky Oaks Church? Understand, that the first known Flournoy immigrant was Jacob. He arrived in 1700. His son, Francis also arrived in 1700. John James Flournoy, a nephew of Jacob arrived abt. 1717. These were the earliest Flournoy's that I know of that arrived in Virginia.
Jacob was a gold smith I believe in Williamsburg, till about 1712 at least, when he is documented as selling his real estate on north side of Duke of Glouster Street in Williamsburg. Jacob d. abt. 1721. He had married in Virgnia, I have nothing on her. Jacobs son, Francis d. abt. 1770. His wife, Mary Baugh, in 1730, Henrico.
John James Flournoy and his wife Mary Elizabeth Williams Jones Flournoy both died within days of each other in late March 1740.
This is all I have on possible "candidates" for the graves. Perhaps others in this Flournoy community may be able to suggest more.
Lastly, Do you have pictures?
Best wishes, Bob Klebs
