Eunice--I am looking forward to receiving your information. It sounds as if you have material that can be very helpful in terms of the larger picture. When you get the time, I would appreciate all of the information that you say that you have for me. My email address is florey@snet.net.

What I am particularly interested in is:

(1) What is the relationship between your ancestor, Anna Maria, and this "Henry" Flori who came with her to Australia in 1855? Germans went by their middle names, not their first names, and there are several relatives of Anna Maria's who have the middle name of "Heinrich." I am trying to figure out which one it was who travelled with her and her husband. She does have a brother with the name Philip Heinrich, but it is clear that he stayed in Germany;

(2) Are the Floris of Nussloch the ancestors of the Floris of St. Ilgen? I think they may be, but I have no proof, only speculation.

(3) What is the relationship of the Flori families from the 4-5 towns in Germany that lie along the straight line from Birkenau to Switzerland? They may be primarily descendants of Hans Flohri, who was born somewhere in Sitzerland in 1610 and who came to Birkenau around 1650. I don't know where precisely in Switzerland he came from. There are stories in Birkenau today that he was a Huguenot also, but an extensive search of town and municipal records in the town provides no verification of this. There are a lot of legends about family members being Huguenots, but many of these legends are false.

At any rate, any information that you can give me to fill out what I have about the St. Ilgen Floris on the Web Site would be greatly appreciated. I assume that you have looked at the Church records of the St. Ilgen parish that are available at the LDS.

Again, email me directly when you have the chance. I don't know your email address.

Ken
