The Florence who served in the Rev. War was b. ca. 1738.
The original spelling of the surname was "Flourance" before it was shortened to Florence. This Thomas is usually found under the old spelling.
Here is the information I have acquired on him:
Thomas left Virginia and went to North Carolina and then on to Georgia, acquiring 200 acres of land in the Georgia Headrights of 1786 in Wilkes County. This part of Wilkes Co. later became Lincoln County. He received 199 acres in Lincoln Co. in the Georgia Headrights in 1800.He also received land in the Lincoln Co. land lottery of 1803. Thomas was in the Revolutionary War on the Georgia Roster for which he received land in the Georgia Headrights Lottery of 1827. In the 1800 Census Thomas had 6 slaves and 200 acres of land in Lincoln Co. Thomas lived out his life in Georgia around the Goshen Baptist Church area of Lincoln Co. and may be buried at the church.
Hope this helps.
