Hello Elisabeth:

I'm a direct descendant of William Farrar and Cecily (I'm also the Farrar DNA project admin) and have evidence that I am a direct descendant of William and probably have his exact Y DNA, as I share the exact Y DNA with another descendant, both of us share a common ancestor Maj William Farrar III 1657.

I find this discussion fascinating, and hope that you don't mind sharing the information that you shared with Jim, with me.

This is a mystery I would really like to get to the bottom of.

By the way one of the Project members lives in Surrey England and he too is a descendant of the Farrar's of Ewood, albeit by way of Henry Farrar brother of our William Farrar.
Well, he is digging into parish records to find the connecting link, but that is the only viable connection at the moment. The Farrar's of Ewood owned a manor in Westwood, Surrey Co. England, where they took refuge and went hunting. See Visitation of Surrey 1623 and Visitation of Hertfordshire 1634 .
