Dawn, I do not have Luke Flood's will; I have Betham's abstract of Anthony Sharp's will and a Betham's family trees of the Flood family. Sir William Betham created various family trees from abstracts he created from wills and other sources. It appears that all of the information concerning the children of Luke Flood and Frances Sharp came from Anthony Sharp's will. Betham's tree of the Floods also shows Luke Flood as the son of Robert Flood and Grace, daughter of Richard Vicars of Levally. Luke had brothers Richard and Edward. Perhaps Betham got this latter information from the will of Richard Vicars. The tree does not show a second marriage for Luke Flood. That doesn't mean there wasn't one; it only means Betham didn't have any information about it. This site: http://www.antonymaitland.com/hptext/hp0024.txt claims: "In 1793, Mary Aletta married, 2nd, Mr. Luke Flood, an estated gentleman of Roundwood, whose name is found in "Vicar's List of Prerogative Wills", Dublin. Luke died within seven years, leaving three children." The article continues with a discussion of these three children. Thank you for the Roundwood information. I was familiar with the Roundwood site which described how William Edward Flood Sharp lost the Roundwood property to creditors and that it was taken over by William Hamilton, a cousin of the Flood Sharps, but I didn't know exactly how the Hamiltons were related. Your article also mentions that it is believed that the Roundwood architect was the same person who designed Summergrove House, Mountmellick. By coincidence, another ancestor of mine, John Sabatier, lived in Summergrove. Rick Notify Administrator about this message?
