When was he born? I see several possibilities on the Emibas CD, made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. Emibas is about 75% complete. Flood is an Americanization of Flod, most likely. Johansen is either a Danish or Norwegian spelling. Swedes use "son" endings and Danes and Norwegians use "sen" endings. This man used both Johansson Flod, so perhaps he is yours, but not necessarily. It is very important to provide details to separate your person from many others. His name is not as rare as you might think in the U.S. This man was a tailor (skräddare). Post 791013 Johansson Flod, Johan Skräddare (married man) b. 10/26/1835 in Ölme, Värmlands län (Värmland) Emigrated 8/28/1869 from Tolstorp, Ölme, Värmlands län (Värmland) to Nordamerika 0401869044 - Bilaga/ytterligare information finns. Kontakta Emigrantregistret i Karlstad Source: Household Examination Roll, p. 588 Emibas migration file ID: Ölme S 1869 044 Also provide information on when someone left Sweden and specifically where they lived in the U.S. It is obvious to me that he lived in Chicago (since my family has about a dozen old graves in that cemetery) but you never actually mentioned Chicago. Try the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. I have learned much about my family's origins there. They have a website but their extensive record collection is not online. http://www.augustana.edu/swenson/ There are other possibilities for this man on some databases but there is no point in putting that information here unless I know when he was born or at least about when he was born and about when he left Sweden.
