Flister/Flester/Fliester/Filester
This name seems kinda rare so I am desperate for any help or connections!
My grandmother was born Mildred Catherine Flester in the City of Baltimore, MD 1/4/1912.Her father was Charles (Henry?) Flester born ca 1881 in Prince Georges County, MD, occupation Blacksmith. Her mother was Virgie (Irene?) Hawkins born ca 1890 in Howard County, MD.Mildred had one brother named Charles Henry Flester who committed suicide in Baltimore, MD after WWII jumping out a hotel window and had no known children to carry on the name.It is a family rumor he was suffering from post traumatic stress from serving in WWII leading to the suicide.Mildred had one sister named Bernice A. Flester who married first a Stilson and second a Renwer.Bernice Renwer died 11/1/1981.
Mildred's first marriage on 6/18/1932 in Baltimore was to a John W. Eisenbaugh which produced my mother, Mildred Katherine Eisenbaugh born in Baltimore on 4/29/1933.John was born in Baltimore ca 1891 and died ca 1936 in that area.
Mildred Catherine Flester Eisenbaugh Parrish Kelly died in Dallas County, TX 1/22/1985
Virgie Flester died in the City of Baltimore, MD 12/2/1943
I have received some Flister/Flester info from a Flester descendent that shows an immigrant from Germany named John (Johann) Friederich Flister/Flester married to Rosina Barbara Stortz on 1/9/1842 that came to the US ca 1845.It shows Johann born in Darmstadt, Germany 7/4/1821.Rosina is shown born in Wurtemberg, Germany 5/11/1825.
Johann & Rosina had several children born in Baltimore, MD from 1845 thru 1862.Their children were Andrew (Andreas) Friederich Flester, Judith Rosina Flester (died young), Maria Judith Flester (died young), Elizabeth Katharina Flester, Christian (Christopher) Friederich Flester,Charles (Carl) Henrich Flester, Rosiene (Rose) Friederiki Flester, Emie (Emma) Luiese Flester, and Mary Flester.
The file has more descendents but only thru the son Andrew (Andreas) Friederich Flester.
I am interested in the son named Charles (Carl) Heinrich Flester who I believe may be the ancestor leading down to me.In the 1860 Census for Baltimore, MD, I found John "Fliester" with wife Rose and children Rose, Andrew, Elizabeth, Christian, Roseanna and Emma. For some reason Charles (Carl) Heinrich Flester is not listed....Both parents are shown born in a place that I cannot decipher ("Hipo"? "Hupa"?) with all the children born in Maryland.
Does anybody know what the "Hipo/Hupa" could be?
In the 1900 Census for Baltimore, MD, I found Charles Flester born in Maryland Mar. 1851 or 1857, both parents born in Germany. His wife is Rosa born in Maryland Mar. 1862 with both parents born in Maryland.Their Maryland born children are Charles H. Flester Feb. 1880, Louis E. Flester Jan. 1885, Edwin Flester June 1889, Annie M. Flester Jan. 1897.That fits enough so I believe this is my great grandfather living with my great great grandparents. It also means my great great greats were both born in Germany.I am missing the link to tie him to the Flester family from the 1860 census since he wasn't listed.
The 1900 Census family group appears to include relatives named Theodore & Susanna Frank with 3 children, Victoria Carrick, Louis & Tillie Carrick, Rosie Kaiser and Elizabeth Kaiser (Kaiser's were orphan nieces?).
If any of this connects to you please contact me!
