The 1881 Census for Clapham London show Matilda now widowed, her husband Nelson having died approx. 6 years before. She isstill living at 50 Heath Road, Clapham, London together with her seven sons - William aged 24 engine driver - Herbert aged 22 Packer, Clothiers - Frederick aged 20 Seaman Royal Navy - George aged 18 Earthenware (?) Asst. - Walter aged 16 Engine Turner F & T - Albert aged 12 Druggists Errand Boy - andHarry aged 8. I know what happened to George because he was my grandfather. But where did the other boys go? Does anyone know, are any of them your ancestors, if so please get in touch.
