Just curious - I've found more on the Flint's than I have on the Bennett's - William Bennett, who married Lois Flint (I've seen her spelling also as Louise in some cases), was born in Gilmanton, Belknap, New Hampshire and ended up in Bridgton Maine. One of William's and Lois's son's names was William Bennett b. 1804 he married a Charlotte (somebody) and they had children : William W b. 1832 Austin b. 1844 Juliette b. 1845 Mary b. 1838 Jane b. 1836 Charlotte b. 1846 Joseph b. 1839 Sylvester b. 1842 John b. 1833 Lois b. 1840 All born in Bridgton - THe males from what I can tell out of this generation were mostly carpenters. William W. b. 1832 would have been my great grandfather and first married a Louise Stevens - also from Maine. They moved sometime between 1850 and 1860 to the Boston Area. William W. served in the Civil War with the Mass. Artillery. My cousin's family has his sword. William W. and Louise had 4 children. I believe IDA, Edward and the other 2 escape me right now, but the youngest child and Louise passed away in the 1870s and the elder children were sent to live with Rebecca (Stevens - Louise's sister) and her husband last name Nichols and lived in Lynn Mass. William W. Bennett married Maria Catherine Mussells/Mussels (or Catherine Maria - depends on the records from Nova Scotia daughter of James Mussells and Harriet Webber) we think in the late 1870s and they had a daughter in 1880 - Hattie Mae(May)who was my great grandmother - William W. passed before 1890. Maria applied for his Civil War Pension in Boston in 1990 and her marital status was written as widow (NEHGS sources). Hattie Mae married a Burton Howe Edwards (we think Burton's name is a pseudo name and maybe some variation of the three names - there is speculation that there was some type of scandal and that Burton changed his name to avoid being found by an ex wife ??? ) Burton and Hattie had three children Alberta (my grandmother who passed in 1984), Burton (the younger who passed in 2002), and Crawford who passed in 2001)- the children were named after peaches. Sometime in early 1910 Hattie and Burton Moved to Michigan and that's where I pick up my Grandmother in the Census on a supplemental page not linked with parents. Burton (the elder) was a graphic artist and worked for Joseph Mack Printing and Advertising in Detroit(based on his WWI draft registration card) - (Joseph Mack did a lot of work for Ford Motor Cars and he was instrumental in supporting the development of a Golf Course in Bloomfield Hills Mich). Burton passed away around 1920-1921 and Hattie went back to work as a Secretary in Detroit and worked the rest of her live in the Detroit area - Hattie passed around 1965ish - she worked for the Department of the Army. I'm not only wanting to confirm the Flint tie-ins but trying to find more about the Bennetts - I can't find them before William Bennett and Lois Flint. Notify Administrator about this message?
