Hi, My name is Adam P. Flint.I have an ancestor who served in Company H of the 72nd Pa. Vol. Inf. during the Civil War.However, this ancestor was not a Flint. His name was George Washington Charlton.I have done some research into the 72nd PA. It was made up of men recruited from the volunteer fire companies of Philadelphia, called "Baxter's Fire Zouaves". At Gettysburg they were posted at the "Angle", which was the focal point of Pickett's Charge, and they played a key part in stopping the assault. The 72nd had one of the highest Federal casualty rates at Gettysburg and the war. They served with the Army of the Potomac in every major battle of the war.
