JOHN WISE 12/04/05
Hi John,
Glad that you found me!
When did your Grandfather pass on? Is it possible that he lived long enough to collect Social Security? If so, he had to fill out a form and you can purchase the form...
I looked on the 1880 census for a John with parents William and Mary, and could not find anything in the West Virginia area.
This is the story that other Flinn researchers have told me: John Flinn when just a mere lad, went aboard a ship, fell asleep and awoke when the ship was at sea. He might have been 12. He had to work as a cabin boy to pay for his trip. He was born about 1761 in Ireland and the name was probably O'Flynn. John died in 1853 in Wood County WV. He was married to Nancy and the older boys were born in Maryland.
I have only edited my Flinn/Flynn from William and Tabitha forward. I will be editing the ancestor part at a later date. For Christmas I am trying to get the CD's done so that I can get some help from my cousins! Sneaky, yes, but how else will I finish the never ending story!
If you have any other information, I will see what I can do for you. I like to fill in the siblings lines so that we can see how the whole story fits.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings,
Deborah
