Hi Ruth,
Thake you for the information. I am posting two messages I have previously recieved. See if this works with your information.
Dear Gary:

I think there was a FLING family that moved to Yamhill County, Oregon from
southern Ohio?, I think it was Columbus Fling?I will check my records on
this line and see what I have on him and youre Hattie Fling/Thompson.

Sincerely,

David Smith

Hello Gary;

Good news, I found your Hattie Thompson living with Columbus & Elizabeth
Fling in the 1870 census. I went over Columbus Flings pension papers and he
states that he and his wife Elizabeth had no children, so maybe Hattie was
adopted or just living with them?.

Columbus Fling also states he lived in Shelby & Champaign Co, ILL and then
to Mankato Minnesota and then to California and settled in Newbury, Yamhill
County, Oregon.

1870 Federal Census of Pickaway County, Scioto Twp, Ohio, page # 516
Fling, Columbus, 30, M, W, Farmer, $700, Ohio
Elizabeth, 25, F, W, Keeping house, Ohio
Schisler, John, 11, M, W, Works on farm, Ohio
Thompson, Hattie, 1, F, W, At home, Ohio

Sincerely,
David Smith
