It may be, just may be, that 'my lot' intermingled (in the nicest way possible) with 'your lot'.
I have an enormous chart of over two hundred names and one small area seems to coincide with the details you have provided.
I would refer you to my earlier posting reference the Flett 'Doddies' and Alexander (Doddie) Flett who was my grandmother's maternal grandfather.
Alexander (Doddie) Flett had, in addition to my great grandmother, Belle Flett, a further nine children, of whom, one was Alexander Flett born in 1861. (In fact there was an earlier sibling called Alexander who was a twin born in 1856 who lived only a few weeks; and as was the custom, the name was reused).
With regards to William Flett born in 1897, my chart has one such William who was the son of a William Flett and Jessie Simpson of Portknockie. This William had three sisters, Kate, Jessie and Belle, and a brother Alex. Alex married Christina McKerrell the daughter of Isa Flett of Findochty and the product of this union was four sons, Alexander (Mac) Flett (now deceased), Gilbert (Gib) Flett now in Brisbane, Australia, John (Ian) Flett, now in New Zealand, and Alan Flett, somewhere 'Stateside'.
If you suspect this is the line you seek I can arrange to send you a copy of the appropriate 'chunk' of my tree.
