Griffith's only lists landowners/leasors with property valued at greater than some nominal amount. Its purpose was to levy taxes. This means it excludes the roughly 95% of Irish peasants who were landless, or had only small plots. It also is deficient in that it only lists one holder; the family members aren't in it.
It is most useful when you have identified a family and associated them with a specific parish or better, a townland. Then it MAY let you make inferences as to your ancestor's property holdings.
