Ken - your is the first query I have seen about Flemings in the south-central to central part of PA. My GGgrandmother, Margaret Kramer, w/o James McKibben Askey (Snow Shoe Township Centre County, PA), b. 1827, d. 1853, named her infant son b/d in 1853 William Fleming. I have been trying to determine how and where the Fleming name came into the Askey family. There are Askeys all through Centre, Clinton, Clearfield, Venango, etc. counties of PA. What I really need to find, though, is a Fleming/Kramer connection prior to 1827 (the date Margaret was born). Conceivably her mother or grandmother could have been a Fleming. I would like very much to solve this mystery. My father was Samuel Fleming Askey and I have always wondered where his middle name came from.
