I have a GGG Grandfather, David Fleece Enox b. ca 1795 Amherst Co. VA. According to the book "Lynchburg, Virginia and Nelson County, Virginia Wills, Deeds and Marriages 1807-1831 by Rev. Bailey Fulton Davis "his mother "Betsy" died and left David Enix an orphan...guardian bond was taken by Thomas Nash 24 Feb 1812" when David would have been ~ 17 years old. It is known that his father's name was David Enox, also seen written as Enix, Enicks, Enecks, Enocks, etc. I have them place in Amherst Co. VA...later part of the county became Nelson Co....but David's family is my brick wall. I am hoping that David's middle name of Fleece was a surname from some family member, and hoping that someone in this forum will recognize this family. David Enix m. Elizabeth "Betsy" Unknown [Fleece?] David Fleece Enox m. (1) Belinda B. Nash on 17 Mar 1821 in Washington Co. KY (2) Lucinda Gott on 3 Mar 1842 in Warren Co.KY There were, according to the 1840 Warren Co. KY census, 10 children in the household. But by the 1850 census, Red River Co. TX, the first wife had died, David remarried and had three more children and before the last ones were born he moved the family to Texas. So I don't have the names of all the children born prior to the 1840 census. Some either died or were old enough that they did not move to Texas with their father. The names I have are: James Fleece, Polly A., Squire Jefferson, Margaret E., Lucy E., David Fleece Jr., Richard Penn, and Mildred L. Any help with this family would be GREATLY appreciated!
