Grandpa's father was always known by Grandpa and each of you as Albert Washington reel born: 1st of June 1879. Henry Sharp (grandpa's cousin) remembers Albert living with him for a while. problem is he always called his uncle albert "uncle Ad" and thought his name was Adam W. Reel. Because he was born in 1879 he should show up in the 1880 census which is very in depth. But to no avail he could not be found either by Albert or Adam. Finally tonight I belive I have put the puzzle together. Nothing conclusive that will allow me to write anything down but if this interest you please follow along.

Above is a Adam W. Reel from the exact hometown as Albert. In fact on a different Geneology site Adam's parents are listed as Henry H. Reel and Mammie J. Reel (her maiden name was Reed) which fits perfectly with what I know. the fact that he was born in 1882 explains why I can not find him in the 1880 census as he was not born yet. When I went to the 1880 Census I do find a Henry Reed and a Mamie Reed in same area with no children. Problem you will notice is that the last name is Reed. Is it plausible that when the census taker got to Henry Reel's home, his wife Mamie answered the door and when the census taker asked this newly married lady her name she accidentally gave her maiden name and when asked her husband's name said Henry and the name Reel never was uttered. I know a bit of a stretch but it all fits very well as there are no other Henry and mamie Reel's in 1880 census. This Henry and Mamie Reed are the right age in the right place. below is the link where you can type in their names and get the census record to this household along with Jacob Reel who I am 100 % sure is my Great Great Great Grandfather.

So the question is why did Adam change his name and his birthdate? Henry Sharp also remembers Uncle Ad being married to someone else prior to Ruth Z Dilts. The above record shows Adam married a Virginia Fleck. Below is another record on her first marriage.

This Virginia Flick (Fleck) married George Washington Staggs then marries our Adam (Albert). She was ten years older than Adam (Albert) and was previously married. Both men had Washington for middle names. just some info. My guess is that this women had something wrong with her and when Adam bailed on the marriage this women wouldn't leave him alone so he goes to live with his sister (Henry Sharp's mom) for a while But his Ex won't leave him alone. So what is a Man to do..... change his first name and birthdate and get a job with the railroad so he can ride out of town. Finally years later when he is about 45 and his suspicion of women has tamed a little he finds this 18 year old beauty of a woman Ruth Z. Dilts. and it is love at first sight and they live happily ever after.
