Stephen Flanders (1620-1684) parentage
Posted by: Steven Flanders (ID *****1694) Date: June 05, 2007 at 10:38:01

I've browsed through the Dunbar/Flanders book and it seems to indicate that Stephen Flanders (1620-1684) came to America from either England or, more likely, Flanders. In hooking into Ancestry.com's "OneWorldTree", I have Stephen Flanders being born in Mass. as the son of Robert Flanders (1597-1647)of Salisbury, England, whose line then seems to stretch back to a bunch of Normans who were granted land in Ireland sometime after the Norman conquests. So it would seem that it was Robert who came to America, not Stephen. Does anyone have any insight on this apparent disconnect? I realize the "OneWorldTree" is only as accurate as what people input into it (it also claims I am related to the Titan Cronus and his mom, Mother Earth, so please stop polluting my grandmother).
