Hi, Elizabeth. I apologize for the delay in answering your question. I think I'm descended from your ancestor's dad or grandpa. I'm trying to discover from where the family emigrated. One researcher claimed that they were Scotch Irish. This may be true, but this name has its roots in Ireland.
