JOSEPH FRANKLIN HIGDON, son of JOHN L. HIGDON and LEONA MILES, was born in Washington County, Kentucky, year l870. Died near Konawa, Oklahoma, Jan. 20, l925. He moved with his parents to Harrison County, Mo., when 3 years of age and settled on a farm near Akron, Mo., where he grew to manhood. At the age of 23 years he was married to MISS VICKIE FLANAGAN who preceded him in death, l5 years ago. To this union were born six children: FRANKLIN, ETHEL, DORETHA, GRACE, DELBERT and ORLIE, all of whom were at his bedside at the time of his death. In l9l5 he was married to MISS BERNICE BROWN. She, with three little girls, are left with the other children and relatives to mourn his departure. Besides these, he leaves five sisters and two brothers, MRS. ED SEYMOUR, of Pleasanton, Iowa; MRS. ABNER MARTIN, of Davis City, Iowa; MRS. WILL SMITH, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; MRS. FRANK RYAN, of Los Angeles, California; MRS. CHAS. TITUS, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; JAMES E. HIGDON, of South Haven, Kansas; J.G. HIGDON, of Ada, Oklahoma. JODIE was a member of the Catholic Church at Sacred Heart, Oklahoma, and lived a true Christian life. He was a member of Sacred Heart League and Apostleship of Prayer, from where the funeral was conducted by his Pastor, Rev. Father Williams at l0 o'clock, January 22nd and was laid to rest at same cemetery by his loved ones.
He will be sadly missed by all his relatives and a large circle of friends and neighbors who were so kind in his last sickness and death. May our Divine Lord who gave us life, take care of us in death is my prayer.
