John Flaherty married 1914 Susan Scullion
I am trying to locate for my cousins their Flaherty Family. I have looked at some records but there are a lot of John Flaherty's but they seem to be around New York not in Ireland. Irish records are such a nightmare !
My grandmother Susannah Scullion of Toom, Aoghil, County Antrim married John Flaherty a Royal Irish Constabulary Officer (Police) in 1914 in Belfast. He came from Rosscommon. He was transferred to the Royal Ulster Constablary and was catholic in the protestant north.
They had two children together a Theresa Flaherty and a Mary Catherine (Molly)Flaherty.
He was shot and killed in 1920 in Belfast - during the uprising. There is an inquest on file plus records in the Royal Ulster Police Museum.
My grandmother remarried a David Mark from Rathfriland, County Down in 1923 and came out to New Zealand where the children were brought up with the Mark children when they were born. My mother is from one of the 5 Mark daughters.
Theresa Henderson has since died childless but Molly Henderson have a son and a daughter would like to make contact with their Flaherty side if that is possible but they have never had any contact and dont know where to start.
regards
Kevin
