Reuben Flagg, son of Jonas and Lucy (Jewet) Flagg, was born 7 April 1799 in Belmont, Belknap, NH or Groton, NH (conflicting sources). He moved to Gorton, Vermont and eventually settled in Plainfield, Illinois in the 1800's. He married Betsy Kendall, born 4/6/1805. She died 2/20/1876 and he died 11/9/1869.
