"The Pulaski Democrat" [Pulaski, Oswego Co., NY], Wednesday, 3 Jan 1923, p. 1:

THEY PUT ONE OVER ON THE
BRIDE'S PARENTS

The Watertown Times of Dec. 29 says:

The marriage of Earl V. Flagg, a school teacher of Pulaski, and Miss Mildred A. Wilde, a school teacher, of 311 North Massey street, was performed late Thursday afternoon by Rev. A. J. Stewart of the Episcopal church at Adams. The ceremony took place at the parsonage of the Methodist Episcopal church. There were no attendants. Following the ceremony the couple left on a wedding trip which will take them through central and southern New York.

The wedding came as a complete surprise to the girl's parents, Under-sheriff and Mrs. Brumley C. Wilde. The couple had been at the Wilde residence in the early part of the afternoon and left about 3:30 saying that they would return in a short time. They immediately went to the city clerk's office where they obtained a marriage license. Upon reaching Adams they were married. The girl then telephoned to this city, informing her parents that she had been united in marriage.

The bride is a graduate of the Watertown High School. During the summer of 1921 she attended Oswego State normal and in September she was given a position as school teacher at Rural Hill. She recently resigned. The bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Flagg of Pulaski. He is employed as a teacher in a school near Pulaski. He formerly lived at Redfield, N. Y. Mrs. Flagg is a native of Henderson, having lived there all of her life.
