Rites Held For
Alonzo Flagg, 89

Alonzo Flagg, 89, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Worden, in Brewerton early Sunday morning following a short illness.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace Colvin Flagg, of Brewerton; three sons, Ray C. of Brewerton, Earl V. of Stratford, Conn., and Lester A. Flagg of Woodville; two daughters, Mrs. John [Alice] Worden of Brewerton and Mrs. Tony [Pearl] Bontomase of Pulaski; a brother, Fred Flagg and sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Belknap, both of Camden; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held from the Foster funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James N. Pauley officiating. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.

Mr. Flagg was born in Altmar on April 4, 1862, the son of James and Eunice Babcock Flagg. He was married to Miss Grace Colvin at Richland on New Year's eve, in 1891, having celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary last New Year's.

For ten years after their marriage he operated a sawmill in Redfield known as the Flagg Lumber Co. They moved to Pulaski in 1901 and purchased the Hilton farm on the Rome road where he lived for 48 years. Mr. Flagg was janitor and truant officer of the Pulaski high school for 18 years, known to the students and townspeople as "Lonnie."

Due to poor health, he was forced to retire in 1936 at which time he converted the barn on the farm into a dance hall called "The Wagon Wheel". He sold the Rome st. property to his son-in-law, Tony Bontomase, in 1939 but continued to lived with them until three years ago when he moved to Brewerton to make their home with their other daughter, Mrs. Worden.

Rites Friday
For Mrs. Flagg

Mrs. Grace Colvin Flagg, 88, died Tuesday at the Allen Nursing Home at Rural Hill, where she had been a patient over a year.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home in Belleville. The Rev. Allyn C. Foster, pastor of the Belleville Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Pulaski. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.

Surviving are two sons, Earl Flagg of Stratford, Conn., and Lester Flagg of Belleville; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Worden of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Anthony [Pearl] Bontomase of Pulaski; several grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two sons, Ray and Forest, are deceased.

Mrs. Flagg was born at Richland on Feb. 21, 1875, the daughter of Orin and Lucy Montondo Colvin, She was married to the late Alonzo Flagg in 1891 and lived all their married life on the Rome Street road. Mr. Flagg died about 10 years ago.
