James Evans descendants to Florida (early 1800's)

I have been researching the EVANS family for almost twenty years and "hit a wall" around the beginning of the 1800's in North Carolina. I CAN verify James Evans (born 1802) in North Carolina, but have been unsuccessful in confirming his father. Another researcher has suggested a James Evans married to a Ruth as a possibility, but that has not been documented. My Evans moved from North Carolina to southern Alabama between 1820-1830. From there some of them moved to the panhandle of Florida, northern Alabama, and Texas. There seems to be a close connection between the Alabama and Florida groups. I have found mention of a will in Duplin County, North Carolina for a James Evans who died in 1802. This will (which I have not seen) list his heirs as:
Elizabeth Evans (probably his wife)
James Evans (b1780-1790)
* I believe this could be the father of my James born in 1802 who is in Alabama by 1825*
William Burton Evans
* a William appears in the 1830 Florida Census*
David Evans (b 1780-1790)
* a David received land in Florida in 1829*
Benjamin Evans
* Living next door to James born in 1802 in 1830 Alabama Census*
Rebecca Evans
Margaret Maxwell

Does any of this "ring a bell" to someone OR does anyone have access to this will. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
