Tim,
Me again. Mark W. Hitchcock who was from NY state was the civil engineer for the company who did all the land surveys and laid out the railroads through the logging
woods. He eventually became the Logging Supertendent for Brooks-Scanlan when Hugh McPhail retired. His son, Wilbur J. Hitchcock,"Hitch", probably knows as much about the logging and sawmill operations as anybody alive today. He has many pictures, some of which have appeared in the publications you mentioned including the cypress log that took 3 flat cars to transport.
