Occupations in Okaloosa, ca. 1850-80

Hi, we are going to start listing and giving a small story about occupations that are currently unknown. Jobs that our ancestors held such as: Lighter Captain; Timber Cruiser; Shingle Getter; etc. If you know of such an occupation and can give us some background on it or just want to know what it is, please contact me. I will do what I can. When we have enough to make it interesting, we will post them on the Okaloosa GenWeb site.

Also, if any of your folks were part of the experiments in raising either Upland Rice (the kind that does not need to be flooded), or silk worms, please contact me. Two other industries we should look into are: Blueberry farming and Satsuma farming. Again, your help or questions are welcomed.

Suggestions for things to add to the site welcome, too!
