Hi Margaret,
Not much to go on, but still I have some questions.
You said she had a sister Louise - do you know more about Louise?Maiden name, married name ????
In Florida death index there is a Nannie B. Baker who died in 1914 Nassau County.
Fernandina is in Nassau Co.
Florida Death Index, 1877-1998 about Nannie B Baker
Name: Nannie B Baker
Death Date: 1914
County of Death: Nassau
State of Death: Florida
Race: White
Gender: Female
In Duval County there is a Mrs. Nancy M . Wiggs died 1912 - Jacksonville is in Duval Co.
Florida Death Index, 1877-1998 about Mrs Nancy M Wiggs
Name: Mrs Nancy M Wiggs
Death Date: 1912
County of Death: Duval
State of Death: Florida
Race: White
Gender: Female
So I went to 1910 census to see if either of these woman was in FL at that time. The death record does not show ages
Only one Nancy Wiggs in Jacksonville, Duval
1910 JACKSONVILLE WARD 1, DUVAL, FLORIDA
WIGGS
Nancy, age 64, widow, own income, born NC parents born NC
Paul, age 41, son, agent, insurance, born NC parents born NC
Frank H., age 38, son, agent, telegraph, born NC parents born NC
HILL
Susan, age 84, mother, born NC parents born NC
****************
there is only one Nannie B. Baker in Nassau and she is in Fernandina
1910 FERNANDINA WARD 2, NASSAU, FLORIDA
BAKER
Hinton J. Jr., ,age 28, attorney at law, born GA father born NC mother born GA
married 6 years, 1st marriage
Nannie B., age 26,wife, born TN parents born TN, married 6 years, 1st marriage, no children born
**************
so these two woman are very far apart in age. Do you have any idea of the approximate age of your Nan ?
Nannie B. did not have any children yet, but I suppose between 1910 and her death in 1914 she may have had one or two ? although in those first 6 years of marriage she had noneBUT in 1920 there are no children with Hinton - he has remarried but no children there at all
I looked up children of Nancy Wiggs and see in a family tree for sons Paul andFrank, she is shown as Nancy (Nannie) M. HILL (maiden name)
it also shows her parents as John HILL and Nancy L. BRYAN
1910 has her mother as Susan HILL ??
problem is this does not seem to fit as Nancy Hill of right age is in NC in 1850 but has no sister Louise but does have sisters Susan and Eliza
so I think to find your woman we need to find Louise - so what do you know about her??
If you have a letter it may have some other clues - such as who wrote the letter and to whom was it written ?
