Did not locate any promising candidates in the Florida death index for Annie Nichols. Searched 1945 thru 1955. Under Nichols in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties also,no luck.There were no obits for any Annie Nichols or Ann Nichols in the Tampa papers that would work w/ the dates you gave.
There was a Annie Elizabeth Nichols that passed in 1950 in Broward County? That is close to Miami.If you felt it might be her, you can request a death cert. from The State of Florida. $5.00 and a couple of weeks could do the trick.
