Short, Richmond, Kentucky, Madison County
I am trying to trace my geneology on my paternal side. My father's mothers family is from Richmond, Kentucky, Madison County.
My father's name was Charles Edward Moore he was born in November 19, 1940 and died November 28,1992. His parents were Charles Raymond Moore and Emma (Short) Moore.
Emma and her sister Elizabeth were killed in a car accident sometime between December 1940 - Late 1942. My grandfather was the driver of the car that killed my grandmother and her sister. I am unsure of Emma or Elizabeths exact dates of birth or deaths. I also do not know where the accident took place or where my grandmother and her sister are buried, other than it is up in the mountains.
After my grandmothers death and what I believe is the circumstances surrounding her death, my great-grandparents got custody of my father and raised him. My great-grandmothers brother was a county judge and "presided" over the case, from what I can remember of the stories that were told.
My father was raised by his maternal grandparents in Richmond, Kentucky. Their names were:
Bradley Short 12/1/1896-10/1971
Lillian (Callahan(?)) Short 07/25/1896-12/26/1982
Bradley and Lillian Short are buried in the Richmond Cemetary and my father Charles is buried next to them.
They had several children and these are the names I remember:
1. Ike Short (think he was a twin to Roger and there was a "Big" Ike and a "Little" Ike)
2. Roger Short (think he was a twin to Ike; he married to Ann, they had a set of twins, I know they had at least 5 children (4 boys and one girl), one was named Thomas and Charlie)
3. Blackburn "Black" Short (first wifes name was "Maggie", who blew herself up in a house, while refinishing furniture or hardwood floors (Richmond, KY))
4. Mary (Short) Dorland (lived in Florida)
5. Elvira (Short) Campbell (was a school teacher in Florida)
6. Lucille (Short) Turpin
7. Emma (Short) Moore
8. Elizabeth Short, unsure if she was ever married
There also was a "Aunt Clara" who lived in Knoxville, Tennessee. I am unsure if she was a child of Bradley and Lillian or a sister to one of them. I know she dealt in antiques in Knoxville and we went there a couple of times.
There also were some McQueens we would visit in Richmond, Kentucky. I believe the were a brother and sister and they lived on a farm, past my great-grandmothers farm on 4 Mile. Roger and Ann Short owned the farm next to my great-grandmother.
I am trying to find all the information on dates of births, marriages, children produced from those marriages, deaths, places of burial and all other information that can be useful, along with pictures of my family. All information will be appreciated and welcomed.
Thank you,
Katrina (Moore) Kinder
