In your research or family records, did you find a Bright Pickett, Born 12 Oct 1800, born NC? Bright Pickett married Elizabeth Cole on 20 Feb 1828 in Richmond County, GA. Information taken from the Augusta Newspaper said they met on a wagon train traveling from NC south and when they got to Augusta, one family was traveling on south and the other traveling west, so Bright and Elizabeth got married in Augusta. I then find their 1st & 2nd children, Emily C. Pickett, born 30 Nov 1831 & a son, S.F.M. Pickett born 24Oct 1832 in Gadsden County, Florida. The next child, Calvin D. Pickett was born 24 Jan 1834 in Newton County, Georgia where the family stayed until Bright died on 27 Aug 1873 and Elizabeth 4 Jan 1899. Bright is buried in Red Oak Methodist Cemetery in Newton County, and Elizabeth is buried in a small Pickett cemetery nearby. I feel that Bright might be a brother of Asa Pickett. Do you have any knowledge of where in NC Asa came from? On Elizabeth's tombstone it says "Elizabeth Cole Pickett wife of Bright Pickett of Johnson County, NC." It is unclear if Elizabeth was from Johnson County or Bright or both. Bright & Emily were my great-great grandparents and I have looked on and off for a number of years for other family members. If any of this rings a bell, I would love to hear from you. I wish you well in your research and hope we connect. I am sorry I did not see the message board prior to now. I don't know why because I have been a member of Genealogy.com since 1988. Thanks and good luck. Annette Stokes Huckabee Notify Administrator about this message?
