Hi: Here are a couple of things that might help.

1. Social Security Death Index shows:
Johnny Luke (SSN 266-14-5687, issued in Florida before 1951). Born July 24, 1917. Died August 23, 1992. Last residence was Hudson, Pasco County, Florida 34667.

2. Florida 1992 Death Index shows:
John C. Luke (same dates), white, dying in Pasco County. Certificate 90668.

Suggestion - Get copies of:

1. The Social Security Number Application (which Mr. Luke himself probably filled out in his own hand). At one of the "Social Security Death Index" sites, there should be complete instructions for getting the Application.

2. The Death Certificate. Costs $5.00 from the Florida Department of Health.

3. The obituary. Contact Chris Welch (welchdude@hotmail.com). He uses the U of FL newspaper archives--nominal charge, great service.

4. The 1920 and 1930 US Census pages for Mr. Luke. With any luck, you should see him there as a 2- or 3-year-old, and as a 12- or 13-year-old boy, together with his parents and siblings.

Good luck!
