Hi Denise,
I am not related to any MAYO family, but after a couple of hours searching, I can not find a connection between a Joel and Alvin Mayo. But you know the family better than I do. This is what found.
SSDI: Name - Joel Mayo
Born - 26 Oct. 1945
Died - Apr. 1980
SS# - 263-88-1352
Issued - Florida
Ancestry.com: Name - Joel C. MAYO
Given Name - Joel C.
Surname - MAYO
Sex - M
Birth - 26 Oct. 1945 in Holmes Cty., Fl.
Death - 25 Apr. 1980 in Iran during the hostage crisis.
Father - James Zinamon MAYO
Born - 14 Feb. 1918 in Holmes Cty., Fl.
Died - 15 Apr. 1988 in Holmes Cty., Fl.
Mother - Mary Alice GRAY
Born - 23 Aug. 1923 in Holmes Cty., Fl.
Buried - Bonifay City Cemetery in Holmes Cty., Fl.
On the Ancestry website, I was able to go back as far as the 1600`s and there was no Alvin Mayo. Could it be a nickname ? It also said Joel`s middle name is Columbus and he was married to a EIKL [still living].
Here are some email address that submitted these trees on Ancestry.com. Write to them and they may be able to clear things up. Who knows they may have something wrong.
