Daughter of William John Kersey and Mary Scarborough (?) B: June 10, 1872 D: April 22, 1948 M: George W. Johns on June 11, 1890 Green Cove Springs, Clay County, FL Would like to add that poor Veroqua's name has been spelled a different way throughout her history. Here is where I have found her and how I've found her (spelling): 1880 Clay County, FL Census: "Visa" *"Polly", Head of house, is her Mother "Mary". In all other census Mary is listed as Mary but in this one she is listed as Polly. Polly was/is a nickname for Mary. The father, William, had recently died maybe they were running from collectors? Polly/Mary's name is also transcribed wrong from original census. Her age is listed as on original census. 1900 Clay County, FL census: "Viranga" is how it's transcribed on ancestry. On the original census it is "Viroqua". 1910 Desoto County, FL census: "V.E." *Her husband, George W., is also listed by his initials but those are completely wrong also. They are written in original census as "D.W." 1920 Desoto County, FL census: "Misa" Original is hard to read. Could be Visa/Misa but ancestry has it transcribed as "Misa". "Visa" was a nickname of hers. 1930 Avon Park, Highlands, FL census: "Viroqua" 1948 Florida Death Index: "Viroqua" I have ordered death certificate and shall see what that says!
