Delia and Henry Davis, Madison and Cherry Lake; early 1900s
On behalf of a friend, I am searching for Madison Co. records on African-American Delia DAVIS (b. 1 may 1891; d. 27 Dec. 1992) and her father Henry DAVIS' family. Delia was a lifelong resident of Madison Co.Henry DAVIS is on the 1900 census as being b. 1859, GA (FL, Madison CO., Hamburg; p. 145). Single mother Delia DAVIS is listed on 1920 census with her two children (Madison Co., Cherry Lake; p. 254).
I would greatly appreciate if someone could see if there was an obituary for her (Madison city). Furthermore, are there marriage records available c. 1885-1887 for African-Americans (her father Henry)? Any local cenus records that might clue me into when Henry arrived in Madison Co.?
I have Delia's death certificate; she is bur. in Mt Zion Cem., #2.
Thank you for any advice and information.
