Hi Linda --
Am not sure if we are related or not.Sometimes knowing some more details can be helpful.

lists our family. My ggg-grandfather A.E. (Alexander Ewing) Harris was in Leon County in 1830 that we know about. He was born abt 1802.His brother, Ebenezer Jackson Harris, was born June 1815.I think I remember a Thomas West Harris on the 1821 Petitioner's List.Yours would have been 23, which might be the same one (and might not - see below).AE Sr. and EJ were born in SC, and their father in NC (we don't know his name yet).Their mother's first name was Easter, born in PA, and was 75 on the 1850 Leon Co. census.
Their children were born in Tallahassee.
AE Jr. wound up going to Decatur Co. GA after the Civil War.Our Francis Eppes Harris apprenticed at a newspaper in Quincy FL after they were orphaned in 1853 and wound up as the editor of the Ocala Banner. In the later 1800s, one of his fellow editors/owners was a T.W. Harris, so I keep my eyes out for others with those initials (haven't yet gotten factual information on what our "T.W." stood for).
Our Francis Eppes Harris is reported in one source as being named after Jefferson's grandson, Francis Eppes, who was mayor of Tallahassee in the 1840s and 1850s.We don't know (yet) if he was connected by blood to Jefferson's wife's family, which included other Francis Eppes Harrises.I'm sure you may well know by now that there are a ton of Thomas West Harrises out there.
Anyway, good luck, and I will keep you in mind as I continue to search. It would be nice if we wound up being cousins.
