I'm in possession of a copy of a long letter by Malachi Martin, warden of the State Penitentiary at Chattahoochee, to John Q Dickinson, Purman's successor as Freedmen's Bureau agent for Jackson County, that describes the botched plan to kill Bond. I'll make a copy for you if you send me your address at my email: miradan1@hotmail.com Bond was later shot in a card game. I'll look up the details for you when I have a chance to check my notes.
