Archibald and Elizabeth Crawford Sandefords?
Hi,
I'm looking for any info on Archibald and Elizabeth Crawford, they appear in the 1850 Jackson Co., Fed Census.
Archibald is 43 a Farmer born about 1807 or 1808 and listed as from Georgia. Elizabeth is 50, born about 1800 and listed from S. Carolina.
They have 6 children listed and all born in GA, Mary 17, Daniel 15, Jincy 13, Archibald 9, Eliza 7 and Martha Ann 4.
But the interesting thing is living in the same house is a bunch of Sandefords from S. Carolina. It looks to me like Elizabeth might have been married before and the Sandeford children are hers from a first marriage.
Elen Ann Sandeford 26, John 24, Elizabeth 19, Jno D. 6mos., Harriet Caroline 5 and Thomas 3.
Elen Ann Sandeford 26 (later spelled Elsay Ann Sandeford Crawford in the 1860 Gadsden Co Cenus) and she is now listed as the wife of Arch Crawford and they have more kids: Calvin 7, Matilda Crawford 4, she is my Great Grandmother and Elizabeth 7 mos. In the 1860 Gadsden her name is spelled Elsey and on Matildas Volusia Co., death certificate in 1931 it is spelled Elsie and her father Archie Crawford. Elizabeth Crawford does not appear in that Census, she possibly died and if so where she is buried.
Looking for any info on any of these folks that will help me in the process of understanding who the Sandefords are and qualifying the family for "Florida Pioneer Descendant" Status, must prove they were in FL on March 3, 1845.
I did find a A. M. A. Crawford in the 1840 Walton Co.Cenus, Florida Territory and an Archibald Crawford in the 1830 Walton Co. Cenus, Florida Territory.
Matilda married Wm. M. Hunter Sep 27, 1873 in St. Johns Co, 2 kids, William Mitchel and Barney Hunter, 2nd marriage to Miles Washington Lastinger Oct. 17, 1884 in Volusia Co., FL. They had 5 kids Vina, Mattie, Jesse, Hattie my grandmother, b. Nov 7, 1893 in Spring Garden, FL and George. Hattie married Otis Johnson Sept 4, 1912 in Kingston now Daytona Beach. Matildas son Miles Lastinger was Deputy Sheriff of Kingston, FL.
Any help or additional info is greatly appreciated.
