Tampa Italians and Hispanics take note...

I have recently come into possession of the original records of Maria Messina Greco, who between 1908 and 1939 delivered thousands of children in their homes. She lived in Ybor City and covered also West Tampa and the Tampa City areas. If your ancestor was born at home, lived in these areas, and was of Italian or Hispanic parents, chances are Maria delivered them. The records name father, his age and origin, mother by maiden name, her age and origin, date and time of birth, address of birth, and a count of how many children were born to the mother, and how many were living. You can see the records at http://www.faithfuldeliveries.com/midwife.htm On that page there is a link to a project I've undertaken to transcribe and upload the records. I will be glad to do a lookup and send you a scan of the original record, but please try to narrow down to the year and month of birth if possible.
