There is an old, unused cemetery at Bayport, on private property. There are no tombstones left there, and no list of burials. A newspaper article dated August 17, 1951, reported six tombstones still standing at that time, but they have since been removed by vandals/thieves. Names on the headstones in 1951 were: Wm. D. Underwood; John E. Johnson; John P. Johnson, son of John E.; Rev. A.M. Barrington; Maj. Isaac Garrason; Rev. Johnson Wright; Marie Nissen; Hannah Johnson; Greenlief Johnson (husband and wife).

According to a manuscript by C.T. Jenkins, one of the first settlers of Bayport, "Bay Port was settled in 1852 by John Parsons, I. Garrison, John E. Johnson, C.T. Jenkins and others." I haven't seen a reference to Cowart House.
