Have evidence to verify Mahala Regan's maiden name was Dykes

I have recently received a death cert. for one of Mahala Regan's sons (George H. Regan)who migrated to TX and died a few months before his eightieth birthday. His death certificate lists his father as John Re(a)gan and his mother as Mahala Dikes. John and Mahala lived many years in Gadsden Co FL and are buried in Vickers Cemetery. This death cert. is the first concrete evidence I have found to link Mahala to the Dykes surname. Any help in placing her in a Dykes family would be appreciated. She was born abt. 1813 in GA or SC (almost all indications for her birth list GA)and died abt. 1894 in Gadsden County.
