John (I) Tanner b. abt. 1790 d. 1826 m. Elizabeth Pope b. abt. 1792 in Savannah GA in 1816.

Couple settled in Gadsden County, and prob. owned land also in neighboring Jackson Co., FL, abt. 1820-21.

They had son John (II) Tanner b. 1823 m. Ann ??? abt. 1845 and had several children including John (III) Tanner b. abt. 1846.

John II was farmer and lawyer and he and widowed mother lived both in Gadsden and in Jackson Cos. John II believed to be same John Tanner who was Captain of Co. F, Jackson Co. Guards, 11th Fla. Inf. CSA and may have emigrated to Brazil after war (I know a John Tanner went, as did ROWE and SCURLOCK folks; all 3 names are of families that intermarried with POPE -- my surname -- in Jackson/Gadsden area).

Looking for (1st) wife of John II Tanner, given name Ann, in 1850 and 1860 censuses for Jackson Co. Her maiden name, parents, date and place of birth, place and date of marriage etc.

Thanks.
