Capps/Thomas Franklin Co. 1800s

I am researching my Capps line and am looking for information on the second wife of my gggrandfather (Richard M. Capps) Mary "Polly" Thomas.

Richard & Mary were married in Pike Co, AL, in 1855. In 1857 Mary gave birth to a daughter, Emma. Richard M Capps died sometime between 1860 and 1870.

According to a family letter written in 1934, Mary "Polly" Thomas Capps and Richard M Capps "had some girls." The letter also states "this widow moved with some of her brothers to Florida at or near Apalachicola."

In the 1870 Franklin Co, FL census (Apalachicola Post Office) I found this household:
Capps, Sarah 44 SC
Emma E 15 AL
Martha J 11 AL
Mary A 9 AL
Susan E 8 AL

I am exploring the possiblity that Sarah Capps is Mary "Polly" Thomas and could be named Sarah Mary Thomas using the second name, Mary (and the traditional nickname, Polly) in everyday life.

The little information I have on Mary Thomas comes from a book published in 1983 by Thomas H Compton on the Brunson, Tisdale, Capps and Johnson families of Crenshaw, Co, AL, and a family letter writen in 1934.
