In researchging some Mobley's I've found some information on Ransom Mobley, b. abt 1834, who was married to: (1) Mary Williams 2/25/1855 in Sumter Co., FL (2) Julia Ann Williams 12/12/1867 in Hillsborough Co., FL (3) Martha Williamson 4/29/1871 (4) Mary Ellen Mercer 12/3/1874 I've found these census records: 1860 Lafayette Co., FL twp 11-12 image 1 219/205 Ransom Mobly 23 m farmer fl Mary Mobly 25 f al Frances E. Mobly 2 f fl 1880 Manatee Co., FL Ransom Mobley self m m w 52 fl farmer Mary Mobley wife f m w 24 fl Julia Ann Mobley dau f s w 19 fl Martha Mobley dau f s w 8 fl Ezenia Mobley dau f s 2 7 fl Appalonia Mobley dau f s w 4 fl Sarah Mobley dau f w w 1 fl and I've found it written (but haven't seen the census record) 1900 Arcadia, DeSota Co., FL has Ransom Mobley b. Feb 1832 Mary Ellen Mobley wife b. Jan 1855 Mary E.Mobley dau b. May 1885 In some of Carl Mobley's data, there is a reference to some info being attained from Dan and Jan Jimmo, and it seems that Jan is descended from the eldest dau. of Ransom's, Frances Mobley, b. 1856 who m. Lewis D. Mercer. I'd LOVE to correspond with Jan Jimmo, if anyone knows how she can be contacted! Anyway, I'm trying (still) to determine which Mobley family my husband's great grandmother came from! Her name was Martha Irene Mobley (but she went by Irene as an adult...it's unknown if she was called Martha or Irene as a child). It is reported on her death certificate, that she was born in Florida 2/7/1871. She was 93 when she died in Anniston, Alabama, so it's quite possible that whoever gave the info on her death certificate wasn't certain of the correct info. I *believe* that they thought her father's name was John, mother UNK. It *looks* like from the dates on the marriages and the census records, that Frances ((1858) & Julia Ann (1861) were the daughters of Mary Williams, that Martha (1872) and Eugenia (1874) were probably the daughters of Martha Williamson, and Appalonia (1876) and Sarah (1879) were the daughters of Mary Ellen Mercer. I would LOVE to correspond with ANYONE who has any info on these people, in hopes that I might find SOMEONE who can tell me if the Martha Mobley in the family is my husband's great grandmother!
