I found your g-grandfather, same occupation, in 1930 US Census, on www.ancestry.com
Name: Oliver C Land
Age: 68 years
Estimated birth year: 1861
Relation to Head-of-house: Head
Home in 1930: Fort Lauderdale, Broward, Florida
Occupation: Night Watchman, County Machine Shop
Image Source: Year: 7 April 1930
Census Place: Fort Lauderdale, Broward, Florida; Roll: T626_307; Page: 8A; Enumeration District: 7; Image: 0730.
Death Certificate: http://www.rootsweb.com/~flbrowar/howto.html
Ask a Librarian (Broward County Library): http://www.broward.org/library
There were no family members listed with Oliver C Land; next in list were all prisoners. You can find details for requesting a death certificate from the HowTo web site above, telling the authorities exact date of birth, and died after 7 April 1933. I checked FLDI for earliest on hand death recprds: 1936, 1937 & 1938 --- found none.
If you are able to find the exact date of death, you might "Ask a Librarian" from the above web site. The FLDI is not cumulatiely indexed, and so it is an unreasonable taks, to read microfilm without knowing date of death.
Hope this may help.
